Peter Bird is the Field Marketing Manager for ExxonMobil Lubricants in the UK, France and Iberia. He has been in the oil industry since 1986 after graduating in Chemistry from the University of Bristol. Peter started as a chemist developing fuels, lubricants and chemicals including assignments in Paris and Brussels. For the past 15 years, he has been involved in Industrial Lubricants marketing for EAME and most recently in a global training role.

Gas Engine Preventative Maintenance

A chartered mechanical engineer, David started his working life in the steel industry as a hydraulic engineer responsible for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of systems for British Steel Stainless. This was followed by two years as a mechanical engineer responsible for the maintenance of the cold rolling mills in Sheffield. David joined Mobil in 1996 and has held numerous technical positions covering many industries from cornflakes to cement, power to pharmaceuticals, followed by six years commercially and technically managing landfill gas-fuelled reciprocating engines. He then spent nine years in international marine lubricants as the Chief Engineer for the UK, Cyprus, and the Middle East providing technical support to key customers. David recently returned to the UK as the Senior Field Engineer coordinating engineering services for gas engine customers.

2020 Operational Report

John is a Chartered Engineer with an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester and over 40 years’ experience in the power industry. Leaving BP in 2013 he developed his own consultancy business, providing expert engineering consultancy services predominantly in tribology and lubrication, where he is currently a Director. John has worked with IPowerE (formerly IDGTE) for over 20 years in a number of roles including Council Member, Trustee, President and Honorary Secretary. He is currently a Trustee and Head of Membership.
